Yeah, oppression of an economy funded by what? Slavery.
That's what the Confederacy stood for. Slavery. Racism. Segregation. Lynchings. Jim Crow. Oppression. Subjugation. People don't learn history from a flag, but they do understand the implication you make with one. That flag was flown by men on a battlefield fighting for their country's right to continue to own human beings as a means of driving their economy. Their fight was a fight to define people as property. That's what that flag means.
