Hey folks, ya gotta start masking up and keeping a safe social distance out there. The latest spike is insane. Presently, based on wastewater samples, there are 900,000 new infections each day. In the country, one person out of every 37 people is infected with COVID. This is not a drill.
@carmen Yikes. Anecdotally I've been hearing more of my friends report having COVID lately. This isn't good.
@carmen makes me pleased that I just got my booster yesterday - I've noticed a large jump in cases amongst family and friends the past month.

They aren't showing up in hospitals. Hawaii has the most cases.

We are having a family gathering of 16 people from 4 states. 😶 everyone is testing ( so far ) 6 who are here are negative. We are running the air purifier.
My concern is everyone is going to stray in 60 directions & meet up all week. They go out to eat etc and we are in the midst of a huge lobster festival that brings in about 1 million people. They too are out and about.
Ugh
We wear masks. I don't know that any of them do. And my 90++++ mother in law will be amongst us all.

We are split between 3 houses and will try to gather mainly outdoors. We've had success in the past but I believe that everyone masked then. My husband and I never stopped. We don't go out to eat or attend large events outdoors. We are novids.

In light of this I wanted to update my shots. I checked the page for the pharmacy where I often go and COVID vaccine is not listed. Then went to the page for another chain and it says "coming this fall". This is insane.
So will there be another display of mass stupidity in the USA or a rush to get vaccinated?
@Sr0bi We don’t have the leadership at the top , especially during an election year, to make this an important issue. Everyone’s heads are buried in the sand.
@carmen The largest infosecurity convention week of the year is happening in Las Vegas this week. I know a ton of people who refuse to dive into the COVID cauldron, but far too many members of my management team insist on doing so. That's bad enough, but the ones who go voluntarily because "I mIsS hAcKeR sUmMeR CaAaAaAaAmP!!!" show a poor grasp of risk management
Yeah, too late for our house, though I've avoided having a positive test and symptoms... so far.
Definitely on the rise here.
