Red alerts all over Israel. Air defense active in Jerusalem.

Multiple explosions over Beersheba.

=

Obviously at least some of the drones and cruise missiles got past the fighter circus.

Intermittent rocket fire still coming out of HezbAllah occupied Lebanon.

IDF reporting that fighter jets, David's Sling (medium range SAM), and Iron Dome (short range SAM) all intercepting incoming weapons.

Separate report of Arrow-2 and Arrow-3 theater defense SAM's intercepting ballistic missiles over Syria and Jordan. (not sure if this counts as a confirmation yet).

ok...

Video confirmation of a ballistic missile being hit by air defense and breaking up in flight over Jerusalem.

We can finally call that a confirm.

Lemme repeat that in different words.

Persia just fired on the 3rd holiest city in Islam.

Reports of direct hits in the Palestinian towns of Umm al-Fahm and in the Arad area.

Second confirmation of medium-range ballistic missiles.

This time its video of debris in a Jordanian town.

That's going to be Arrow-3 (or US THAADS/Patriot) at work.

Saudi fighters were also involved in the drone turkey shoot. Not sure where yet.

Video of multiple ballistic missiles (or the debris from same) impacting in the Negev area.

IDF spokesman...

The 10yr old girl (not boy) has since died.

IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari: The event is not yet over, there are more threats on the way.

Seeing reports of more ballistic missiles being launched from Iran. Not seeing anything to confirm that, yet.

Confirmation that Arrow-3 SAM took out at least one Iranian ballistic missile in space.

...in space...

@Render There are different definitions for the edge of space. How is space defined for the purposes of that report? (e.g. how far above the ground?)

@danielbsmith Exoatmospheric is the term being used in reporting from US and Israeli sources.

@Render @danielbsmith
I know zero about ballistic missiles is it supposed to be up there, or did they aim at Israel and miss Earth?

Follow

@AlphaCentauri @Render @danielbsmith Travel in parabolic arcs. They can stay in the atmosphere or get beyond. Towards the top of the arc they're going about as slow as they will := good targets.

@b4cks4w @AlphaCentauri @Render No one can agree on exactly where space starts and the atmosphere ends so in place of a scientific limit there is a legal distance of 100km above the Earth's surface. This is widely, but not universally, accepted.

But we also can't scientifically define where the exosphere starts. 🤭

So the military is simply keeping its secrets. It's above where a commercial jetliner can fly, but that's about as specific as we can get.
