Your parents might be/have been, and hopefully are or were very good people. But they're not infinitely wise; the way they did things was a combination of their own understanding and intuition and the kind of society they lived in.

You are a different person, in difference circumstances, with your own understanding of the world. The fact that your parents did things one way is not a sufficient reason for you doing things the same way.

People on both sides of the line like to mock other people whom they don't like as being "fragile" or "snowflakes."

And it's true, there's a lot of fragility out there. But someone should ask: Are we fragile because we're weak? Or are we fragile because, over and over again, someone is trying to break us?

Nobody gets to go into someone else's house, smash their belongings, and say it's the other person's fault because the items were "fragile." The same thing goes for people's spirits.

And while we're talking, I hope everyone is using an audited and open-source password manager and generating unique, long, and random complex passwords for each of your accounts. Don't use a password vault but only exists in your web browser or operating system. Use one on the privacytools page linked above. I recommend Bitwarden, but that page has a couple good options for people who don't want an online vault for their passwords.
