I don't feel as though "God steered me wrong here" is going to prove to be an effective defense.

@mcfate Religion: taking advantage of stupid people since the beginning of human existence.
Okay, that's absurd. If you're going to stake out a position of "only stupid people are religious", don't do it where I have to watch it, please.
Did you forget I'm a Buddhist? Please lay out for me how stupid I am and how Zen has been "taking advantage" of me for several decades.
@mcfate @ProjectShadow To be fair, Buddhism is a little different than most beliefs.
I am a Soto Zen Buddhist, but lack any belief in the supernatural, full stop. And that is the best part- I am free to believe as I choose and it doesn't make me any less of a Buddhist.
To be fairer, the Shadow is merely presenting the syllogism, "Religion β whatever one imagines that to be β is for suckers and saps who don't think clearly."
If you want to be outraged by Jack Chick or Joel Osteen, go wild, but when you eat a blueberry, dislike it, and decide that "People who eat blue things are idiots", you haven't got your mind right.
@mcfate @ProjectShadow Good thing I don't take that position. π
@aspecurian @ProjectShadow
I'm not taking issue with YOU at the moment. I'm trying to get Project Shadow to make some sense here.
I'm very tired of evangelical atheists whose awareness of "religion" seems to have started with Jack Chick and stopped with Jerry Falwell.
