So, this year has been interesting to say the least when my medical needs are concerned.
I deal with some pretty crazy chronic pain at times, but was managing it well with Naproxen and acetaminophen.
Earlier this year my PCP tried to take me off of Naproxen, but I managed to talk him into letting me take a lower dose by breaking the tablets in half. This is an insufficient dose, so now I can only take it every 3 days or so.
This left me with the generic Tylenol. And guess what?
My insurance has decided to stop covering acetaminophen.
It's supposed to have some OTC benefits but no one can figure out how it works- not the pharmacy, not my doctor.
So now my pain regimen, which was working fine and involved precisely zero narcotics, is kaput.
Did I mention that I still need surgery for the Haglund's Deformity in my right ankle?
2024 is going to be a year of taking my health care team to task.

@annamousse I think it's interesting how this only came up AFTER the annual chance to change my HMO.
@aspecurian have you checked your insurance carrier's website for the OTC benefits?
we can order online, over the phone or in person. fortunately they sent a booklet. both naproxen and acetaminophen are available.
