While I wasn't the biggest fan of the 1602 episode of "What If" I will always like Peggy Carter in whatever form we get her. The character is fantastic and Hayely Atwell embodies her wonderfully. Anywho.. I drew this sitting in a McDonalds and colored it once I got home.

I did record the coloring process.

Took a break from drawing ladies to do this raged out Homelander. Kept it pretty loose. I had just done a 5-hour drawing and wasn't up to doing a ton of detail. I think it still works okay though.

Empyrean Nomad

One thing participating in my first art exhibit gave me the an appreciation of doing non-IP work. So now, from time to time, I'll be doing pieces like this. Pieces that aren't tied to anything and are done just for the joy of doing them. I recognize that they may not be commercially viable but I can do these just for me.

The hand holding the scabbard is a bit wonky...and that's after I tried to "fix" it. It was worse. :/

A quick photoshop edit... not only was the neck too long, the whole head was a tad large. Here's a more accurate depiction. It's okay to recognize when you didn't execute something correctly.

Done as part of an Aquaman themed drink & draw. Figured Mera deserved some love since the DCEU didn't give her much. 😃

The neck is a tad long but mistakes are all part of the path of experience.

The suit is meant to have a hexagonal texture but I didn't have the patience to depict all that. ha.

I like the Tank Girl aesthetic and felt like drawing something in that vain. This is not any particular character; just a punk with a bazooka. The pencils were done on my lunchbreak, the replay shows the inking and coloring.

Hey Copic! What is this B.S.? I already didn't like the ink refill bottles because they're hard to squeeze. So I transferred a brand new C4 refill in into an old empty refill bottle. It filled less than half old bottle.

I had this idea for another TMNT/Usagi Yojimbo sketch variant comic, but for the life my I couldn't find my blank. Still, the idea wouldn't leave my head until I got it on paper. So here is Usagi and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in an homage to Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai." Done on handcrafted tone paper with markers, ink, and white pencil.

It's been a good year art wise. More "finished" pieces this year than previous years. I set out to get more color into my work and I think I made progress on that front. Next year, I'm going to try to get more comfortable with perspective drawing.

I'm gearing up for a local convention in February so here's TMNT and Usagi enjoying ono grinds Hawaiian style. Can't come to islands on a diet.

Grayscale (warm and cool) seemed to be the way to go, both for the visual aesthetic and to facilitate the process.

We're about 2 months out from Amazing Comic Con Aloha, so I'm putting out a call for commissions again. While hardly anyone really takes me up these pre-con commissions, hope springs eternal as they say. Getting in early is great for both of us. I get more time to work on it and have access to ALL my art supplies and I can record for a process replay video. You get to decide when to pay so it's easier budget.
