This was done in honor of the 30th anniversary of Hawaiian comic book superhero, PineappleMan. I was asked earlier in the year if I'd be willing to submit something. It was an obvious yes. I've been sitting on this since July, not wanting post it until it had been presented to PineappleMan's creator; Sam Campos. Today, we presented Sam with renditions of his character. Here's mine. Already tired of the all the post mortem think pieces on what she did wrong that caused her to lose. Let's face it, a rabid weasel should have beat him. That he beat anyone is more an indictment on the U.S.; that we didn't hold him accountable when we could have, that give into their baser traits, that we have an education system that let so many down, that we have institutions and power structures that not only permitted this situation but also contributed to it.

So we had our weekly drink and draw Wednesday after the election. We were all in a somber mood but we eventually were able to crack jokes and laugh with each other. Strangely I felt a little guilty afterward but then realized, fuck that, they will not steal the moments of joy and happiness I'm able to find in the darkness.

While I can't say I'm happy the national results at least Hawaii remains strongly "blue". Next we'll see if that strength can stand in the face of national institutions that will surely attempt to knock it down.

This is the 8th year that Comic Jam Hawaii is making hand-drawn holiday cards for the keiki (kids) that are stuck in the local children's hospitals. Sometimes I just draw what I feel in the cards and witches were on my mind for this one.
