Reimagining the Goddess, Isis

I picked up some Kuretake gold ink and wanted a character that I could adorn in gold. The goddess Isis seemed like a good option. I did my take on the goddess but included elements like the throne symbol, ankh, wings, and an usekh collar to hopefully sell the look as Isis.

Retro Sci-FI Profile

As a child of the 70s I grew up with a lot of retro and pulp sci-fi. This was a Saturday warm-up project to get in the drawing mood. I wanted to try to capture the look and feel of the art that graced those old sci-fi stories.

I'm watching "Badlands Hunters" on Netflix. I clicked on it because it stars Ma Dong-seok. He was Gilgamesh in the Eternals and I'm just happy to watch something with him again.

This is second time I've met and got to hang out a bit with artist Rick Hoberg. This time I pre-commissioned some art from him, his choice of character. He did the cool ass Vader. Especially cool knowing that he worked on the official comic adaptation of Star Wars back the late 70s.

It's becoming painfully obvious that too many Americans grew up rooting for the Empire in Star Wars.

Saw a post ranting about "agendas" in comics as being some recent thing that's ruining the medium... guess it's time to revive this.

Got a head start on bookmarks for Free Comic Book Day 2024. An Asian characters set and a "gods" set. I'll be seeding more sets with art that has been drawn after last FCBD. Thought I'd do these sets on tone paper. Not sure how many I'll do this year; usually around 10 or so sets of 5 originals drawn each year.
