The roll call sketch for yesterday's Comic Jam at Aiea Library.

Ho. Ho. Whoaaaaa.

I have way too many blank sketch variants, but now I have one less. :D

It took me way longer than I was anticipating working the black cover. I learned a lot doing it though; techniques I can take forward for the next time.

The face is loosely based on actor Stephen Lang.

W.I.P. I have hundreds of blank comic book sketch variants so I decided to grab one out of the stack... but it's a black cover. I probably should have gone with acrylics, but nooooo... I went with color pencils and markers. It's slow going but it's coming along.

There are few characters in comics that are fashionistas; Emma Frost is certainly one of the them. Fashion is something I struggle with drawing (I'm a very basic guy). So this is good practice.

The handmade paper gave me some trouble on this one. A stray, loose fiber in the chest had to be pulled, leaving a divot, and some the surface texture wanted to erase away.

From "The Marvels" Drink & Draw session. I decided on the adorkable Ms. Marvel. I really like the the Khans and Iman Vellani is great as Ms. Marvel.

I forgot to record the drawing portion but if you'd like watch to coloring...

Neil Gaiman's Sandman is 35 this month. I've enjoyed that world in every iteration it's come out on and it's a source of art inspiration. I'm not a goth, but I love the aesthetic and I've always loved mythologies. Mahalo Mr. Gaiman.

A few Sandman inspired drawings I've done.

Scarlet Witch.
Just taking a break from the 9x12 tone paper I've been using recently. And dipping my toes back into a bit of watercolor which I've neglected for a several months. But I ended up going mixed media with some pencil and markers over the watercolor. Still the smaller 5x7 size was a nice break.

SPOILER for "The Marvels"

Felt like tackling the Binary costume seen in the mid-credits of "The Marvels." Not sure if that seen will lead anywhere, but I'd be down for the Monica Rambeau Binary action.

9x12 marker and pencil on Niltech ware gray paper.

How to watch YT Shorts in a the regular YT player. Had to figure this out since many of my shorts are HD.

If you've got nothing better to do Saturday morning...

Look for artildawn on FB, YT, or twitch.

A couple recent 8x10 commissions.

Goofy as Sherlock Holmes with Pluto searching for clues.

Goofy as Jacob Marley scaring Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge.

Mahalo for the commission Patricia.

The Drink & Draw theme was Trolls. We all remember the pencil toppers right? Well my mind took it to a dark place....

As Hank Hill would say, "the boy ain't right."

Yes, I actually recorded it if you really want to watch it being sketched.

,

So some Sailors are trying fend off killer whales by playing heavy metal music; and I'm thinking that's how we get headbanging orcas.

In sketch mode at jam today. There's something about Photon in the MCU... I can't quite put my finger on it. ;)
