Adding another fundraising event in support of Maui. If you're near Pearlridge Center Sunday swing by, donate, and pick up a cool drawing to two.

Hey, if you're on FB too, a friend of mine is hosting online art auction on 20 Aug, where the proceeds will go to help Maui relief efforts.

Come on by and help support if can. We'll be doing live sketches and selling art in support of Maui fire relief efforts.

There will also be some art from the likes of Stan Sakai, John Goff, Walden Wong and Ron Lim being sold for donations.

Share and spread the word please.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock the last few days, you’ll have heard about the wildfires that devastated Lahaina, Maui and the surrounding area. To do my part to help, I’ll be taking commissions throughout the remainder of August 2023 directly supporting the relief efforts there. See the accompanying graphic for info.

My contact information is available on Link Tree (linktr.ee/artildawn or scan the QR code in the image).

Okay, let's try this again and this time with lots of advance notice. :D. Commissions are open for Decembers' Maui Comic Con. Got some piece of fan art you'd like drawn up? Want to have yourself or a loved one turned into a superhero (or villain)? Got a mash-up you've always want to see? Want to turn your cosplay into a drawing? Let your imagination run wild then message me to get it drawn it up.

On to the next con.... but at least I have a few months until then.

If you can get to Maui, go check this one out. The 3 guests announced so far are great. And I think they have a few more to announce.

It's been too many years since I've been there but I'll be there this year!.

CJH drink & draw schedule for August. Streams on Wednesdays at 7pm HST. Available on the group's FB page or the Artildawn YT and Twitch channels.

Another con in the books. It was interesting, the vibe was different but ultimately it went well. I usually get maybe 2-3 commissions at a convention like this, so getting 7 was cool. It's not only for the money; it's also great to meet new art lovers, and doing them really helps pass the time.

I like to think that I'm fairly flexible artistically and commissions put that notion to the test.

Thanks to everyone that requested something drawn by me, it's truly appreciated.

Artist Alley applications for the 2023 Maui Comic Con are now open! Email [email protected] to receive an application.

The final piece in my Streambook Vol 3. Wrapping up with a local favorite; Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai. While I'll continue to do live streams I don't think I'll do them in a hardbound sketchbook going forward. It's just not super practical. Small goof on this one: I wanted to convey some motion, but I tilted the horse just a little too far.

This is it, the final page of Streambook vol 3. In the last two pieces I did Alucard with a rapier, and a Dark Jedi with a ligthsaber, so now I'm doing a character with a katana. What better character to do for that than Usagi? To push myself I'm going draw him armored and on horseback. Let's finish this 3rd sketchbook off with a bang!

Scheduled for 6:30ish PM HST, Sunday, July 30, 2023
Rated TV-MA for possible language
Simulcast to FB, YT, and Twitch.

The penultimate drawing in my Streambook Vol 3 is this funky Dark Jedi. The Ahsoka trailers put the Dark Jedi in my mind, so I thought I take a stab and making one. How'd I do?

This was done with some budget markers I picked up at Ross. The Creative Expert 48 marker set was $13 USD. They're pretty impressive for the price.

Sometime today...I'm just not sure when exactly. I have two pages left to fill up in the Streambook Vol 3. This will be the penultimate drawing in the book. The book WILL be ready for Comic Con Honolulu's art auction. Keep an eye out and come hang out with me if you can.

Alucard from Castlevania. Suggested by Darin Trinidad.
Tested out some budget markers on this one. The Creative Expert markers found at Ross. $13 for 48 markers. The work great for a budget brand. My only concern is the barrels are thin so I suspect the don't hold a lot of ink.

When you're a comics guy with too much time on your hands, access to Photoshop, and you want to react to the X rebranding...
