Lula da Silva has defeated Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil's Presidential election.
Bolsonaro had been a friend of TFG on the international scene, and had espoused a similar brand of paranoia and conspiracy theories. He also did practically nothing to keep Brazilians safe from Covid, resulting in very high rates of infection for the region.
Lula is a former President of Brazil associated with the labor left.
His victory was by only 1.88% points.
It's unknown if Bolsonaro will accept the result.
