There is going to be a Netflix movie about the last few months of the BirdSite and it will be on par with Tiger King. Pix is response by engineer that was recently fired.

Mike Pence has just been subpoenaed by special counsel Jack Smith.

Pence may not have been willing to talk to the Jan 6 Committee, but he has to talk to Jack Smith!

@thejackhopkins
Jack Smith is going to box Garland in, whether Garland needs to be boxed in, or not. It may actually be that Garland WANTED someone to back him into a corner, and put him into an β€œI have no choice!” situation. If that is what he wanted, he’s going to get it.

@Juhstin It’s to give Mars lots of money even though the alphas don’t actually get anything useful. Makes sense.

It would have helped if the definition and functioning of democratic socialism was correctly taught and understood. Instead, we have a nation that embraces the services provided by socialism without appreciating that's what it is. And we have both sides of the aisle deriding democratic socialism and making it sound like communism.
Our ignorance will kill us all one day.

Contrary to how it may appear, I'm really not enjoying the current Republican shitshow.

It's bad for the country.

It's bad for the world.

It's bad for us as the people who live here.

And it's bad for democracy.

And as bad as it is, eventually these assholes will sort themselves out and then it will get even WORSE.

25 years ago we were in the middle of a huge 5-day ice storm here in Ottawa. We have a tree in our back yard that has a kink in it from when it was bent double as a young tree back then. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Januar

Jan 6 is a good day to remember Jan 7
On Jan 7, 147 Republicans voted to overrule the vote of the American people.
These same people, who fundamentally reject democracy, are struggling to elect a Speaker of the House.
Per the 14th amendment, they are unfit to hold office, yet they are about to control the House.
I urge Dems to find an R who did not vote against democracy on Jan 7, and signal support for that person

@ZonaPellucida Oh, yum. I had meant to make some over the weekend, myself.

Today seems like a good day to eulogize Raymond Hunthausen, a former archbishop of Seattle who β€œretired” (was pushed out) in 1991 and passed away in 2018.

Hunthausen was investigated and sanctioned by the Vatican in 1983, under the direction of then-Cardinal Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict) for, among other things, welcoming and ministering to LGBTQ people. (Not coincidentally, I left the Church at around the same time.)
