Conservative media does a lot of damage under a pretense of Free Speech that should not apply to corporations at all.

@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN That was what people were saying in the 1960s. For a lot of reasons, it doesnโ€™t work to just wait. The current movement is youngโ€”Proud Boys, 3%ers, Groypers, etc are all young. Weโ€™ll have to put in the work.

โ€œIf you wish to become a philosopher, the first thing to realise is that most people go through life with a whole world of beliefs that have no sort of rational justification, and that one manโ€™s world of beliefs is apt to be incompatible with another manโ€™s, so that they cannot both be right. Peopleโ€™s opinions are mainly designed to make them feel comfortable; truth, for most people is a secondary consideration.โ€

@KarlMorant I just wish the NDP and Liberals would form an agreement to cooperate in some way, and run a single candidate in ridings where only one of the non-Con candidates has a chance.

Cautiously optimistic. I still think there is a very dangerous fascist-like movement in the US that has core support from something like 25% and tacit acceptance from another 25% who think theyโ€™d benefit somehow, but they havenโ€™t gained power last night anywhere near as much as I feared. Letโ€™s drink to a 2-year reprieve!

Reproductive rights added to Vermont state constitution.

Hassan beats Bolduc in NH Senate race. . Called races are 43:43 D:R in senate right now.

The New York Timesโ€™s (superbly annoying) election needle has moved for the House from Probably Republican to Lean Republican.

Lauren Boebert is running 4 points behind with 71% of the vote in. CO3. ๐ŸŽ‰

The only seats Republicans have flipped so far are seats that they gerrymandered so they couldn't lose. They are underperforming virtually everywhere else. This is not going as the GOP hoped. The House can go either wayโ€”but this is not the red wave the GOP expected.

@Ohmohmwhat given the current Republican Party, basically nothing short of total obliteration would be good, but at least this isnโ€™t the neofascist validation it could have been.

@Oma_Trisha @Msharki3 And normally youโ€™d only have one of the 2 up for election at a time. Georgia is odd this time because Warnock filled an open seat in a special election and has to run again now.

@Oma_Trisha Not divided. Senators serve the entire state. Only the house has districts.

Putting on my Poli Sci/retired political consultant hat to offer my opinion about tomorrow ...

I think the Rs will win a narrow majority in the House. The next two years will be a clown show as they shut down the government and stage phony investigations. They'll get tossed out in 2024.

I think the Ds will retain the Senate majority, but it will be close, maybe 51-49.

FL will be a clean sweep for Rs. (1/x)
