Shit. My colleagues spent £140k on laptops this afternoon via credit cards for #coronavirus WFH contingency.
Just had long chat with boss who was mega supportive and I'll not be physically attending work for the foreseeable re concerns re Autoimmune tyhroid and shitty #coronavirus and risk level. I feel very relieved. I was sure this would be the case but until I'd had the full convo I wasn't 100%. Our disaster planning team have been working flat out and we're currently getting kitted up to move staff to WFH. Guilty about not being there to help but I'm not indespensible and they've coped fine :)
.. and that basically means that my own immune system attacks my own thyroid, causing it to malfunction. Heres the really scary bit - the cytokine storm that occurs in some covid-19 patients is caused by an already over zealous immune system attacking the virus and wrecking total havoc. Clearly the science is emerging so its difficult to ascertain whether this applies. Sorry for rambling but I guess it helps to get it down. Does anyone else on here have this condition? What are you thoughts? /
Now heres the thing.. Because in UK the thyroid treatment and diagnosis regimes are very unnuanced I've had endless arguments with Dr's re treatment etc, particularly when my thyroid state has changed to become either more hypo or sometimes hyper.. To this date although I know I have Hashimotos (due to antibody tests) as opposed to acquired through damage hypothyroidism Dr's won't attach that as a label as they say its irrelevant to treatment. Which is fine except Hashimotos is autoimmune 2/
So heres the thing. I've woken up scared. I've an underactive thyroid condition (Autoimmune, Hashimotos, controlled with Levothyroxine - t4 and the odd bit of Thyronine - T3) and googling like mad I can only find bits about any effect of #Coronavirus #Corvid19 on people with this condition, clearly cos the science is just emerging. The British Thyroid Foundation say its probably fine, no increased risk but I have issues with them anyway over many things in UK thyroid treatment world 1/
Neil Young bringing it...
Must be because I had the flu this Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
And increases my paranoia
Like looking in my mirror and seeing a police car
But I'm not, I'm not giving in an inch to fear
'Cause I've promised myself this year
I feel oh, like I owe it,to someone
When I get myself together
I'm gonna get down in that sunny southern weather, yeah
I'm goin' find a space inside a laugh, yes
Separate the wheat from some chaff
I feel
Like I owe it, yeah, to someone
Morning all. UK twitter, as you can imagine, is a complete car crash of fear at what our gov isn't doing plus a gungho attitude of "we're brits, of course we're doing it differently, we'll show the world" plus a load of us also thinking our gov and it's advisers are using us as a social and medical experiment. Friday 13th indeed...
If you are tracking the virus, I want to give you a warning. There are fake websites out there pretending to be the Johns Hopkins Interactive map that is serving up a nasty malware. The coronavirus fake web kits are being sold on Russian criminal forums. The detail they have taken to mimic the real site is impressive.
If you want the legitimate site, which is very well done and interesting: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
That sinking feeling when you go on Facebook out of curiosity and find some interesting convos and people you haven't spoken to for ages but also find part of your family being harrassed cos their dad works at local hospital that fuckwits have decided is in lockdown cos it has a CV case. And then you find mostly fuckwits, some of whom I used to count as friends, howling at various conspiricy moons over 5g, CV, EU, Agenda 21, Thurnberg etc etc. FML
Not a sheep. Very random. Baa. ADHD
I make stuff and sometimes post pics of the stuff.
I currently work in IT but who knows for how much longer...
