Does anyone else now regard their time spent reading dystopian scfi novels as time actually reading training manuals for this current shitfest ?
@Zailrand I’m glad I have good preparedness skills all Houghton we’d honestly be better off back where we were away from people, growing our own veggies. I wonder what the Amish folks are thinking right about now
@Museek I was wondering that earlier...
@lovesdaryl @Museek I'm just working out how much compost I need... Loads of seeds, just need to start them off. Going to have window box salad for sure.
@Zailrand @lovesdaryl that’ll be nice :)
@lovesdaryl @Zailrand
Terrific! Enjoy that :-)
gardening is good for the soul.
@lovesdaryl @Zailrand
:-)
Good.
you can bury a lot of troubles by digging in the dirt ;-).
I have forgotten who wrote that but it’s so true!
There’s really not more satisfying work than gardening. Just start digging.. and singing 😊. It’s good for the plants and for you.
@Zailrand yes
@Zailrand I’m telling you I convinced teen girls are going to save us and also kick the shit out of our complacent butts.
@catie now that would be wonderful :)
@Zailrand That's precisely the reason I couldn't watch the new Handmaid's Tale no matter how well done. I still have a mental plan how to escape to Canada JIC.
@Jsabinas yes! I watched first series but it was too disheartening as Brexit and Trump unfolded around us. Attwoods MadAdam trilogy is looking prophetic about now...
@Zailrand I wonder if I can summon the courage.
@Zailrand yes but I actually found #dystopian #scifi to be very relaxing compared to reality in the last few years esp. 2020.
Funny thing happened when I was rereading Parable of the Sower this year. I fell asleep and woke up to keep reading, a chapter with some backstory about a corrupt real estate developer butting up against the reality of #climatechange and its risks to the new housing developments. Only to realize I was had read a current news article! It had fit the storyline seemlessly.😳
@Zailrand Totally! Time well spent.
