Done with my cataract surgeries. It’s amazing how much better I can see now. Happy holidays to you and your family.

On doctor’s orders, my temporary post-cataract sunglasses. I think Yoko Ono, Ray Charles, and Bono would approve.

For over a decade, I’ve been wearing sunglasses even on cloudy days. They’ve become sort of a trademark. But it was never about style. It was on the urging of my ophthalmologist who has warned me about my ever-growing cataracts.

This week, I finally went under the laser for one eye. The other eye is up next soon. Maybe it will improve my photography!

It’s fun when friends send me snapshots after they find my book – this one at the Bush-Holley House gift shop in Connecticut. But the only place you can get a signed limited edition copy with an uncirculated Weir Farm commemorative quarter is at my website: xiomaro.com/book.html

I ordered an oliebollen (a/k/a smoutebollen) from this Amsterdam concession stand, but cancelled it when I realized they did not take credit cards – and I did not have any Euros. So I stepped away and busied myself with street photography. Then I heard her calling me… She kindly and generously gave me one at no charge. It was delicious. Of course, I had to shoot a portrait of Pan and her co-worker.

Looks like people are actually watching the re-runs of the PBS episode about my photography. 🙂 I’ve gotten some nice messages and even sold a signed copy of this booklet, which is available here xiomaro.com/booklet_mnhp.html

"Times Square" on view as part of the “Masters of Street Photography” international group exhibition at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography until December 23, 2023. xiomaro.com/masters.html

Street photography, National Park photography, and now rock n' roll photography -- all my loves converging. I met the band Haunt the Woods and photographed their show in Glasgow. More with the rest of the band after I return to New York. Note that his hair is longer and less frizzy than mine. hauntthewoods.com/

Finally squeezed in a visit to the Glasgow Gallery of Photography to see my print in the “Masters of Street Photography” international group exhibition. But, my, how the Scottish weather does not agree with my hair. Photo by Gary Nisbet.

Torrential rain, wind, and cold. Hiking for 8 hours with a backpack of heavy gear. A fun adventure at Loch Lamond & the Trossachs in Balloch, Scotland. xiomaro.com

Here’s the renown Gary Nisbet dreamily contemplating his beloved Glasgow. I attended a fascinating architectural history walk led by this knowledgeable author and photographer. Check out his website: glasgowsculpture.com

I arrived in Scotland and will be checking out the group exhibit I'm in at the gallery. I spent the past 5 hours wandering around Glasgow engaging in street photography. Here's one from this morning. xiomaro.com/masters.html

I’ll be in Glasgow, Scotland, this week and next for an exhibit featuring one of my street photography prints. While there, I’ll be photographing Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. If you have favorite places there to visit, eat, etc., I’m open to suggestions. xiomaro.com/masters.html
