#Politics Good lord ... #Utah Republicans are dismantling a state seismic commission because the panel "would recommend things that are unaffordable to do." Experts forecast a magnitude 6.75 quake for the Wasatch Fault sometime in the next 50 years; many buildings in the state are unreinforced masonry.

@anatman It's an attitude I encountered before when I worked in local government, in particular from libertarian types. Ignore the problem and it goes away.
