The new raspberry cupcakes at Costco are INSANELY good. Fluffy, deliciously melty buttercream frosting that is head and shoulders above any thick, greasy supermarket icing. The cupcake itself is soft and delicate and melts in your mouth, and has those little sour raspberry bits that balance it all out. My whole fam went nuts for them, me included, and I don't even LIKE sweets, usually. We halved them because they're pretty rich, but do as you will. #CoSoFood

What a lovely day with my daughter. We headed South to Book People, because I found some incredible French-milled soap there yesterday (along with this beautifully illustrated book on Greek Mythology) and we were both blown away by it, so we went to get more for gifts. We ended up at our old favorite neighborhood restaurant, but they had remodeled and are now some sort of Honky Tonk/British Pub hybrid- I don't really get it but whatever. Happy Birthday, my forever-gorgeous purple one. #Prince didn't believe in celebrating his own birthday, but he had no problem with his fans celebrating him. He would have been 65 years on this planet today, and we would all be the richer for it.

I miss my grandpa. He was the Atticus Finch in my life. Not a lawyer, but one of the first Alaskan Bush Pilots. He built his first car from scraps, and was mentored by a pilot who let him work at the local flight school in exchange for lessons. He had a kind, thoughtful nature, and I've never known a smarter, more emotionally intelligent man. He raised his family and happily retired to the motorhome life with my grandma. He passed 20 years ago. Love you, Poppa.

Sprung for Via 313 pizza tonight because we only live once. Mine: prosciutto, fig preserves, gorgonzola, with a balsamic drizzle. Daughter's: Natural casing classic pepperoni. I've never had pizza this divine... the base is fluffy with crusty edges, a perfect pizza crust. Seriously, eye-rollingly delicious, the flavors just JUMP onto your palate.
