Hey, do you guys also have real life friends who never return messages or calls but suddenly show up when they need your help and then immediately stop returning messages for another two years?

@Vonzales I don't think those are actually called 'friends'...

@Vonzales: I used to, though not anymore, not for several years now.

@Vonzales if they don’t return messages or calls, after a few attempts, I put them in the “reserve” category.
Meaning I reserve the right to cut them off if they don’t have a really good reason (e.g. they’re dead).

@ayankdownunder
I've cut off a couple of past friends this way.
We used to be close, the three of us, but then one left to live abroad and rarely came to visit.
One day he appears out of the blue with a big favor to ask.
When I was done doing the chore he'd put me to, he disappeared again.
I presumed he'd gone back to his new home country, appears, he did, but not before a bbq party at the 3rd friend's home, to which they "forgot" to invite me.

Oh well, buh-bye then, have a nice life.

@Vonzales that’s a really crappy way to be treated. So sorry that happened to you, and good on you for showing them the door.

@ayankdownunder
People treat me like a god.
They completely ignore my existence unless they need something from me.

@Vonzales now that they’ve shown what kind of people they are, you can decide which kind of god you are- vengeful or benevolent.

@Vonzales I have had that experience too. Such people don't remain friends for long. My advice would be to let them go. Focus on the friends and family that you do have. Don't look backwards but forwards.
