🧵 In 2018, my cousin & best friend Alex Schachter was killed by a gunman with an AR15 in Parkland. I am sick & tired of congressional inaction. On June 6th, I will sit-in at the US Capitol to demand a vote to #BanAssaultWeapons. I invite others to join me.
"...But the real point I want to make is that it's most certainly just as natural as monogamy is and perhaps if social conditioning weren't a factor, might indeed be the more prevalent form of relationships."
It’s obvious that watching film and quality TV is my hobby, I’m happy to support the WGA strike. I don’t care how long it takes. There is so much content, it has become a foundational part of our culture. Writers did that and they need to get paid and get the support they need. Give them all of what they want. 👊
Want to support the #WGAStrike but you're not sure how? Turn off your streaming services and catch up on your To Be Read pile. If that pile is a little light, I'd be happy to make a few modest suggestions. #cosobooks #cosowriters #WritingCommunity #opencarrybooks
i just think there's a great many white men & just white folks, who are terrified that the brutish, thuggish, assholery they have committed against women, girls, gender diverse peeps & non whites, will lead to a great uprising where all us marginalized folks will do unto them, what they have done unto us.
but if you look at indigenous folks, 1 of the most systematically killed, desecrated, & harmed groups - they seek truth & reconciliation. not revenge.
seeking equity is not seeking vengeance.
Thank you New Mexico! Amid the onslaught of hundreds of anti-LGBTQ bills passed or making their way through Republican-controlled states, it's important to recognize when good news happens.
"The pro-LGBTQ+ bill is a major win in a year when many states are attacking equal rights."
#DIDYOUKNOW - this week https://counter.social detected, identified and shutdown 1000's of sleeper bots that had registered accounts real low and slow in order to conduct influence operations on the run-up to the 2024 election?
It's easy to get used to being comfortable, wanting things to remain the same perhaps out of fear of the unknown. It's safe, dependable and less likely to cause us grief.
But, as one who likes to step out of the comfort zone, I challenge you to do that today. Experience the day in a whole new light. Whether it's a new route to where you're going, conversation w/one you might not otherwise, or something you've been wanting to do that's more extreme....do it. Test the joy it just may bring you.
"Did they teach anything that would be useful later in life?" is the sort of question that shows why parents are, broadly speaking, unqualified to evaluate curricula.
This line is used against topics such as music, art, and literature, because they can't conceive how those would be "used" later in life. The reality is that all of these, in fact, help children grow into well-rounded individuals who can think for themselves.
Which, of course, is why they don't want these subjects. #education
As a joke the sexist men of Argonoia #Kansas nominated her as mayor
The joke was on them!

Business Advice for Writers: Practice your speaking skills whenever you can. It's an important skill when asked to be on panels, as a Guest of Honor, etc. Being comfortable before groups is a necessary tool in your writing career toolbox. #WritingCommunity #Writers

Frost: 86% of Fentanyl convictions at the border have been US citizens. Not foreign nationals. Not undocumented immigrants. Not asylum seekers.
When argument is used to prove one idea or person superior and humiliate the other person or expose their idea to ridicule, it is fairly useless.
If, however, argument were seen as a way of demonstrating how ideas are *similar*, and how different words don't necessarily mean contradictory thoughts, it could be quite useful. Unfortunately, few people learn ways to do that; indeed, many people seem to think that "debate" is a synonym for "abuse," because in fact it frequently is used abusively.
"So in conclusion: places with the highest drug addiction rates, highest severe mental illness rates, highest poverty rates, most generous welfare benefits, and the nicest weather don’t have the most homelessness. Places with the highest housing costs do. So we as a society are left with a choice: If we don’t want to solve homelessness, we can continue to misdiagnose it. If we do want to solve homelessness, we can build an ample supply of housing and subsidized housing."
