15 broke his collar bone today during a soccer match. The midfield can be a tough place to be. A contributing factor was size. My freshman versus a senior. What might have otherwise been a 50-50 ball resulted in 15 getting slammed to the turf. Major ouch.
@rpardee thanks. He's in for a few rough days. Like broken toes and ribs, there isn't much you can do if surgery isn't necessary. He just now managed to wolf down dinner so his appetite is good. The older brothers even feel bad for him. That's saying something.
@Urbankidx4 First, omg that looks like a bad one (had one not so bad). Is that a piece just floating loose? Second, the size differences in high school sports are amazing and scary. So sorry he's hurt. Hope he heals well.
@jds_again thanks. I thought it was a double break as well until I got schooled by my lovely bride. The break is called a mid shaft clavicle break. The left side in the pic does not connect to another bones further left. Just one break in the middle.
@Urbankidx4 Phew. Well, still looks awful. Mine was a couple inches from the notch in the center. I'm not sure if I disobeyed some instructions or if it's normal but my broken ends overlapped and grew into a very large ball. Feels unbreakable now lol. 15 yo me was more worried about a) the need for help showering😊 and b) missing my extra-curricular s. Hope he can find comfort and rest.
@Urbankidx4 Oh dang--poor kid. Hope he's not too bad off.
