@Bix I don't get it. Are they so deep in their bubble that they actually think getting rid of financial, healthcare, and environmental regulations is really popular? They are not supposed to say these quiet parts out loud before the election.
Yes.
Yes they are, and they don’t care.
That’s the point.
Nilay Patel at The Verge has a great distillation of the neofeudalist mindset.
Hat tip @rpardee 🤓
@InUnfunky This, I understand. But they have to get elected first to abolish elections. And regulations. And laws. So, why don't they wait until after the elections with their revelations? Three reasons come to mind: 1) Their aims are popular in the US. 2) They believe their aims are popular in the US. 3) They don't care if their aims are popular because they will seize power independently of the election outcome. @Bix @rpardee
@ToruOkada @InUnfunky @Bix yeah it's a good question. Of course in elon's case you can never rule out 4) he's talking out of his ass or wishcasting.
But it makes me think of this story from a while back: https://www.commondreams.org/news/reid-hoffman-kamala-harris
Hoffman also being so up-front w/gunning for Khan makes me think it's your #2.
@rpardee 4) is a good point but it is coming from so many different sources now - healthcare, economy, finance, regulations. So, yeah, most likely groupthink. @InUnfunky @Bix
