I posted a little while ago about a friend who ha dropped off the radar, and recently resurfaced. They posted on FB and mentioned financial struggles... so I sent them some $.
We talked and it was good to reconnect.
Then, they asked for more money.
Haven't interacted with me otherwise. Haven't reacted to my posts. Just asked for $ for pot (medical)... then a few days later asked for $ for a burrito.
Just asked for $ again.

Like, not even a "Hey, how are you?"...

So I told them I wasn't happy being treated as an ATM and that I'd hoped to revive a friendship, but that clearly wasn't how they see me.
I ended with "Have a good life"

I'll give it enough time to be sure they've seen that message and then I'm blocking them.

@tyghebright yeah, you did right. May not feel like it, but a kind gesture is not a green light for supporting another mouth. Maybe if they were a friend, they'd fit in somehow 🤷‍♂️ but they didn't want that, it seems, given their reaction...

Sorry you had to make that kind of call. Hope they get back on their feet.

@TheJaunted

That's the thing... I know they're struggling, and have been for a while.

If they wanted to be friends, and made even a cursory effort in that direction... I probably *would* have helped them out a bit more, while setting a boundary.

But like, if they're not a friend, why on earth would I keep investing in them--financially or otherwise?

@tyghebright I’m sorry you had to deal with that disappointment.
