I get frustrated with streaming music services and their recommendations algorithms. When I put in artists who are women and let the service generate a playlist, they always seem to regress to the "white guys with guitars" mean.

Like, if I start with Neko Case, shouldn't I expect to hear at least a few similar female artists (in addition to Death Cab for Cutie and the Decembrists)?

I want more diversity from my recommendation algorithm!

@Tadmaster if you're using Spotify, try turning off automix in your settings. That might be what's causing all the songs to sound more or less the same.
