A little bit about my roots:

My granny Lenchen lived in Nazi Germany and organized secret resistance meetings in her orchard.

She called those conventions “birthday parties”, so that her neighbors would not suspect anything. This meant that everyone at the tables had to display an exuberant party mood, even if they just lost someone, and the discussion topics were about life and death.

I often think of Granny Lenchen, and do not allow myself to let courage or hope die.

This goes out to the person who saw the coffee beans first and was like, “Oh come on, I’ll roast this stuff, chop it up into dust, and then mix it with hot water.” — From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.
