I don't expect anything better from Trump or from the Press.

I, however, expect better from you, Citizen.

New essay up on Stonekettle Station: Caveat Emptor

stonekettle.com/2023/05/caveat

@Stonekettle This is why I constantly contribute to folks like ProPublica, NPR, and people like Judd Legum an Aaron Rupar. Folks who have integrity and do go after corruption and double dealing. And why I've blocked so many *crap* news sources like Politico, CNN, Fox, TheHill, etc.

@Stonekettle

This-all this below,

"That's why the Constitution begins with "We the people..." not politicians, not political parties, not religion, not the Press, not corporations, but we the people.

Because that's where the real power lies, if only we have the wit and the determination to use it wisely.

If you want a better nation, be a better citizen. "

@Stonekettle

This is eloquent, straightforward, and penetratingly insightful.

Thank you for it.

@Stonekettle Absolutely right about incendiary, profit-driven media. (any that have a slick corporate logo fit the description). Charts showing left or right are meaningless; ranking their profit motivation wouldn’t be. Tune them out. They present themselves as necessary, they are not. I always read Letters to an American, Today’s Edition and Next Draft on Substack; they link out to what’s worthy of my time and energy.

@Stonekettle Glad that Occupy Democrats is included in this. I consider my self well to the left, and admired that movement when it began; but they have become a repulsive rage machine which I will not feed.

@Stonekettle

This is absolutely another reason to & leave cable behind entirely. You can refuse to watch a given news channel, you can lobby at/boycott advertisers ~ but they get the carriage fee from EVERY 👏 SINGLE 👏 SUBSCRIPTION 👏 whether you watch a given channel or not.

The $ being the only language that matters, people TRULY concerned about the version of where news "analysis" is an addictive need to seriously consider jettisoning it 💯!

@Stonekettle

Bang on as always, sir. The town hall was a win for corporate greed.

@Stonekettle

I think you're spot on here, but I also believe, relative to the citizenry, that our leaders and the politicians know how much sustained energy and action any movement needs to be successful, and I believe they laugh every time another movement starts.

A tad cynical and tired of monopolization.

@Stonekettle

I said this when Trump was in office. It didn't matter whether a network was generally pro or anti Trump--they all loved him being President because it made for lots of eyes and clicks.

@Stonekettle I used to follow you on the bird site, or was it Facebook? I forget, but to my surprise, you're here now, so I can follow you again! YAY!
