Hot take on a couple of 30-year old albums: The second half of Metallica’s LOAD is a slog to listen to. It’s filler made of a few ultra-polished and over-produced good sonic ideas that just doesn’t make for a continuously pleasurable listening experience. ReLOAD is the overall superior album, as far as I’m concerned. A likewise strong first half but with deep cuts that I still thoroughly enjoy to this day. Give a listen to Where the Wild Things Are, Slither and Devil’s Dance.
@StefaNonsense Agreed. Looking back i guess they were still feeling out their new direction with LOAD. It was a shock for me too, but BIG respect for taking such a huge risk.
