@Armchaircouch it the US you can absolutely photo or video anyone in public as long as you’re not creeping over a fence or elsewhere with a reasonable expectation of privacy, per SCOTUS. IDK if that translates to a theater full of people though…
oh, yes! :) I know the law (sort of), I guess my answer was coming from more of a general ethical point of you, and just what I feel in general. @Smersh
If you're in public, you have a right to privacy up to the point where your actions negatively impact the people around you.
Such as, say, vaping and groping your partner in a venue where children are present.
@Smersh Legally speaking, no. The 4th amendment provides no privacy protection in a public theater. However, the 4th only applies to govt actors, so there can be different laws/rules for private citizens including media.
well like how?
are you asking if somebody can take a picture of you sitting in the theater or are you asking if somebody can look at what you’re typing on your phone.
my personal opinion is everybody has a right to privacy with anything they do it doesn’t matter if they’re out in public. But I guess the paparazzi in the United States has shaped peoples thinking about who does deserve privacy and who doesn’t… Idk @Smersh
