Nicotine gum is great.
However.
Between 7 and 10 pm I did the most smoking because by 7pm I have to pace the porch. Watch the sky.
Smoke.
Take pictures.
Inhale the smoke and the end of the day into myself.
I'm doing great all day. Until 7pm.
My husband told me that when he smoked while using gum to quit it jacked up his need for nicotine awfully.
So for now I suffer between 7 and 10pm.
That's fine.

It's really not fine, but I am lying to everyone else who needs to quit because we have to stay alive.
It's sucking badly.
It'll pass.

As I'm not an ex-smoker yet I want to be upfront with the process.
I am already coughing up junk out of my lungs.
I'm dizzy from increased oxygen to my brain.
I want to sit with my pickle lighter and smoke an entire pack in 3 hours.
It's not easy.
But no one really said that you can't use nicotine gum forever.

@MrGoat

Shhhhhh.

Shhhhhhhhhh.

I'm pretending mine are leeches.

@AskTheDevil

Thanks!
I've survived worse in my life with far less enthusiasm from anyone.

@Shelter quitting smoking was super hard for me to do, but I eventually made it and you can too! You got this.

@dr_zooks

I've got this.
I'm really fcking stubborn and I've got this.
But I am not going to lie about it.

@Shelter I think the stubbornness will be more helpful than the gum. 🤣

@dr_zooks

My mom was 40 when she had me in 1971, and when people asked her if she was worried about me falling prey to peer pressure she laughed and laughed.
"No. If ANYONE tells her she has to do something to be proper she does the exact opposite."
My mom was right.

@Shelter @dr_zooks I approve.

Of course, if you only do the _opposite_ they may still be manipulating you. You must be prepared to do what you want regardless of what people say.

But always err on denying the enemy their desire. : )

@AskTheDevil @dr_zooks

My mom didn't even bother with reverse psychology except for when it came to talking on the phone.
If she wanted me to hear about something important she'd mention it to someone on the phone because I heard EVERYTHING.

@Shelter What's frustrating is that all that stuff that makes me want to hold firm in staying quit also makes me want a cigarette.

But I am at the stage of withdrawal where, if I saw a rainbow it would make me want a cigarette.

@AskTheDevil

Puppies and shit.
Satisfactory moments are capped by a cigarette.
And THAT'S ADVERTISING BULLSHIT.
