It's a curious thing that the Ten Commandments don't actually forbid telling lies. There's a commandment against "bearing false witness," but that's a very narrow subset of lying; and the fact that it is so narrow may seem to legitimize lying in other situations, e.g., in business or politics. It's not forbidden, so it must be okay, right?

Perhaps that's why self-described Christians like Mike Pence and Sarah Sanders find it so easy to lie on camera. They're not under oath.

Watching last night’s #StateOfTheUnion speech made me feel euphoric that I’m now volunteering for our county Democratic Party. After years of volunteering for small local nonprofits, I’m convinced that nothing else I do can have as much impact on improving lives and making the world a safer place. Until we clear out these sadistic Republican haters and drive a stake through their dystopian plans, the American Dream will be unattainable for many, and torn from those who attained it.
