“Republicans, who were happy to vote, three times, to increase the debt ceiling when Trump was in the White House (to say nothing of passing measures like tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and ultimately increasing the national debt by more than $7 trillion) are suddenly feigning horror at the notion of increasing the debt limit.”
Joyce Vance
Former U.S. Attorney

@SenescentDrummer13 I love Joyce Vance!

Of course she's right, as usual. I'd go farther and say the debt limit should be eliminated altogether. It doesn't actually limit debt as it's not applied to proposed expenditures. It's only dragged out and put on display afterward as a tool to extort concessions from the other party. And what the rest of the world sees is the United States having a blowout argument over whether or to pay our bills.
