@Singingpups It’s awesome. The past couple of years have been hard since we had a baby and couldn’t go out much but he’s almost old enough to go camping now. I’ve missed it!
@Singingpups Yup! I’m in Portland, so the coast is two hours west and the mountain is two hours east of here. 😄
@Singingpups Making me want to abandon my suburban life and move out to the woods.
One of these days I am going to write about the importance of this place. When I joined early on, I knew it was the solution to a social media landscape that intentionally divides us for nefarious ends.
I've invested so much into it because I believe that if it succeeds, it will have a positive impact on making things better—and in huge ways.
@JHippie Gonna go out on a limb and guess that being a full time caregiver is probably not what you had in mind when you were thinking about not having to work anymore. It’s good and noble and sounds like it’s necessary but it’s not retirement. I’m sorry to hear that you’re in that situation. Please go easy on yourself. What you’re doing is hard.
@MamaJ CoSo automatically scrubs any metadata out of your image to preserve your anonymity. Unfortunately sometimes images can be stored sideways with metadata that tells viewers to rotate it. When that gets scrubbed out, it will just show the image as-is.
Fortunately it's easy to fix. Just open the image in any editor, rotate it to the correct orientation and save it. Then try posting it to CoSo.
@GottaLaff Gifs work but it's not integrated and they don't auto-play. They'll play if you hover over with your mouse (on the website anyway) You can upload a gif like any other photo.
No quote-toots as far as I know.
There's no built in way to change the theme but you can use a browser plugin like Dark Reader to adjust the colors.
@thewebrecluse 100%. A slider or something to say how piratey you want your game to be would be awesome. I was able to steer clear of the pirates in most cases. I saw them everywhere but I'd duck through asteroids or into the station or onto a planet and they wouldn't chase me. So maybe they did tone it down for the official release?
@thewebrecluse Holy cow. I never had that happen. I ducked into the space station a couple times to see the pirate sitting RIGHT THERE at the entrance. I also saw pirates inside the atmosphere a bunch of times but I was always able to keep clear of those.
Okay - so @ names are not editable. This is because trolls use that feature on the other site to evade and confuse. Also, if you delete your account here, nobody can 'claim' your old username to impersonate you.
@thewebrecluse I started up a new normal game after that happened and it's much more relaxed. I haven't seen a pirate so far and several of the planets don't have sentinels. Maybe it feels sorry for me! 😂
@homebird I was pretty sore about it until I remembered about the glitch that helped me at the beginning. I enjoy that kind of symmetry.
@thewebrecluse I'm not sure. In the game I was just talking about there were pirates freaking everywhere. Seemed like every time I went into space I'd run into one. I got pretty good at racing through asteroid fields to lose them. I saw the pirate update came out but I haven't been keeping track of patches.
@kaehlys It was pretty exciting and nerve wracking. I had fun.
The glitch giveth, and the glitch taketh away. Played a permdeath game of No Man's Sky. At the beginning I found a glitch that let me sell the same stuff to a trade terminal over and over again. Got a few million units from that. Got farther in this game than I ever have before. Then, died when a sentinel interceptor glitched _into_ my ship and held it in one place while his 7 friends beat the crap out of me.
No one minds if you bring stuff here from the bird.
Unless it's edgy vitriol. We'd love for that stuff to stay over there. #CoSoTips
