Just finished another T. Kingfisher. Lucky for me she’s prolific, because each of her books makes me want another. Anybody else read this one?

Just thought I’d share a few of the cool fungi growing in my yard. I’m neither in the mountains nor the coast of North Carolina so the recent hurricane mostly just dumped a lot of rain on us. And the fungus is thriving!

Now that it's October, I'm running headlong into my spooky season reading. I've already read one new horror novel and started a second. But my long time favorite is still Jane-Emily by Patricia Clapp. What's on your spooky reading list? It's and for we're talking about favorite ghost stories. What's on your list? samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot

What tipped you over from "thinking about writing" to actually doing it? For me, it was Douglas Adams, and a significant birthday. samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot

I did a book fair yesterday. 8 hours outside standing on pavement, on a hill and so much peopling. Plumb tuckered out today. What do you do to recover after a demanding day.

Check out these awesome mushrooms I saw on my walk today. They look like they are made of clay!

I just re-watched these movies. It was interesting, what stuck out to me this time. In some ways they feel very contemporary, and in other ways, they are a time capsule of the era in which they were made. Lover come back was the one that hit me the strangest this time. Have you seen any of these? What did you think?

My Monday blog today is about favorite words. Myself, I'm fond of collective nouns and old fashioned slang. How about you? Got any favorite words? Why those? samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot

I like how Trump is a complete narcissist psychopath who has never done a single morally uplifting thing in his pathetic excuse for a life and yet anti-Harris geniuses will mention 2 things she has done they don't agree with and that's their argument why they support Trump. 👍

Maybe I really am a mushroom. Rain makes me happy. We’re getting a lot of it and North Carolina, USA today. How’s the weather where you are?

For open book blog hop today, we're talking about publicity, traditionally the bane of author life. Is there any part of it you actually enjoy? samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot

A bit of roadside art from my trip to Arizona. Feeling a bit like I’m trying to drive a speedboat on land today. Here’s hoping coffee helps.

Now that I’m back home I can tell people on the Internet where I’ve been, just back from Portal Arizona where we crossed “ Really see the stars” off our bucket lists. This was the view out the back patio of our rental.

I’ve got a rare treat this morning: the ever elusive slow Saturday morning. I’ve had coffee, and a little walk, and now I’m just sitting here watching the water meander. I hope your morning gives you a little room for contemplation too.

It’s been weird realizing that I live in the dystopian futures that the movies I loved as a teenager in the 80s and 90s envisioned. We’re well past when Marty McFly traveled, Los Angeles (Blade Runner) and Manhattan (Escape From NY) should already be destroyed. And now Skynet.

What's your community known for? I'm in Hillsborough, NC, USA, known historically for our associations with the Revolutionary War. More recently, we're known as a hotbed of writers and artists. samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot

Last night the kiddo and I realized that we had both matched our dresses and our hair. Aren’t we cute?

My kiddo passed their driver's test today! I'm super proud of them, and excited about this next stage of independence, and also a little sad. Such is motherhood.

I’m part of a classics book club, so I’ve just started reading Vanity Fair. I’ve been dreading this one because I tried to read it a couple of times in the past and found it tedious. This time though, I’m quite enjoying it so far. I guess it just goes to show that sometimes it isn’t the book but whether the reader is in the right frame of mind for it.

Had the best weekend with the kid and their bestie. We LOVE aquariums.
