Rainy day selling books today. I shared a table with a couple of writing friends at Bookmarks festival in Winston Salem, North Carolina today. We were definitely nervous about selling paper goods in the rain, but luckily the forecast was right and the rain slowed. And we also very well. I guess people who are willing to come out during rainy weather we’re determined to buy some books.

Today was my annual boob squishing, also known as a mammogram. So here I am posing with the mad science machine that I trust to find any signs of breast cancer early enough that the doctors can save me. And here’s a reminder to you or to anyone in your life with boobs, that mammograms save lives. A few minutes discomfort can make all the difference.

I've loved this poem ever since I first read it. Speaks to me about the business of art and how to keep going even when there's no recognition.

The kiddo and I have been baking for our local chapter of Meals on Wheels all summer. This week we took on some thing a little fancier with more steps, and it was so much fun! These are called spiral cookies. Aren’t they beautiful? (They’re delicious too.)

Check out these false foxglove flowers from my walk today! They lined both sides of the path!

On Mondays, I do a little blog hop called Open Book. Light, usually fun topics, related to writing life. This week we're talking about favorite books--and I always find it so hard to pick! Do you have a favorite book? Why is it your favorite? samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot

I could sit and watch the jellyfish at an aquarium for days at a time. Somethings so relaxing about watching them move.

My favorite picture of the kid from our weekend trip: enjoying a kitten at a car café. Aren’t they the cutiest?

I grew up with the WEBN fireworks show for Labor Day. I hadn't been in years, but we landed passes to watch from the Roebling Bridge, and we'd been wanting to share it with the kid, so away we went to visit the grandparents and enjoy the show. What's the special festival or event where you are?

Are you a food adventurer? I am, at least a little. Here’s todays new to me food adventure: salty egg yolk buns.

Pokeweed in various phases. Definitely looks like she’s up to no good.

A little saleswoman-ship today: my first-in-series is free on Kindle along with eleven other fantastic superhero books. If you've been meaning to check out the Menopausal Superheroes series, today might be your day: superhero-fiction.com/salespag

Having a hard time moving forward this week, but with a deadline to meet, can't really just "step away." What works for you when you're not feeling it?

Today would have been the birthday of both my Grandma Liz and her mother, Great Grandma Lena. Here they both are with all the cousins old enough to remember them both.

I'm thinking about what it was like to try to have a writing life when the kids were small. A little trip down memory lane (with a humorous bent): medium.com/p/f1a5dd9e5299

Just took this fierce little monster to open house for their junior year of high school. Dang.
