Is there anything that gives a writer more endorphins than getting a box of their new book in the mail? One of those moments that takes this thing that mostly lives just in my own brain and makes it very very real.

I was a queen bee two days in a row, y’all! I feel so smart! Any other fans of this New York Times word game?

This is one of my favorite trees on one of my favorite walks and I was so happy to get out into the sunshine and visit her today. I love how there’s a growth that looks like a hand so that I can imagine this tree is a very tall woman just standing and looking out at the river. Maybe she’s an Ent.

Got some great advice with my morning coffee. The coffee was good too.

I don't really care about
Valentines Day but I do love old-school, bad-pun Valentines cards So, in case you've not seen them, I'm gonna suggest you go look at Matthew Lineham's Valentine art and enjoy a good giggle. mlinehamart.com/product/classi

The moment between the rain and the darkness. Fog and frogsong. Perfection.

I love this part! When the proofs come and you get to see your story y’all formatted for publication and give it one last go over to make sure that nothing is out of place.

I bought myself a little present. I’ve long been a fan of the original Invisible Man movie (as well as the classic book by HG Wells), and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the Abbott and Costello. But I’m very excited at the idea that there are four others that I’ve never even seen. Now all I need is a few hours to binge these! Do you enjoy old monster movies?

There was too much day in my day. And now that I'm to the "me time" I'm burnt. Bleaaaahhh!

Just a little sneak peek of my next publication. My story is called “Suburban Blight”and takes place in a neighborhood suspiciously like the one I live in. When I write my creepy little stories about suburbia, they’re set in a fictionalized version of my own neighborhood called Shadow Hill. You’ll be able to get your own copy at the end of March. Watch this space for more details!

I had a moment very much like this nearly twenty years ago, when the man who had been my friend was about to become my permanent best friend, my Sweetman.

Like the characters in Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher, we'd both been hurt before and crossing that threshold was as terrifying as leaping off a cliff.

And there it was, captured perfectly on the page. This is why I read.

I'm reading Paladin's Grace by T.Kingfisher and it's breaking my heart in all the best ways. This is my second book by her (not counting her children's work published as Ursula Vernon). Any fans here at CoSo?

There’s nothing like selling a full series to a new reader. Such a show of faith! I’ll ridd high for days on that. Thank you, Tanya!

A bit of then and now comparison, 2007 and 2024. Odd, I feel the same inside.

Check out these beautiful game pieces for Wingspan! Sweetman picked them up for me. He’s the best!

I may not have accomplished much today, but I did find all of the words and spelling bee. That’s even cooler than when they call me a genius.

My first day back on the clock after the holidays and it’s also a required in office day. That’s some serious disorientation, man.

It's that goal-setting time, and I have some actual numbers to use. (tracked in Jamie Raintree writing and revision tracker.) So, what have I learned?

I'm spending too much writing time on the wrong things. Hoping to change that in 2024. How bout you? Got goals?

Took the kiddo for some quality time with goats today. Lovely day. Better than all the presents, good food, and holiday glitz is the time for moments like this.
