Years ago, when I worked in our DC area office, people tended to dress on the casual side of business casual. That was until a member of our executive leadership visited and issued an edict; thou shalt not wear jeans, sneakers, etc. in what's supposed to be a professional environment. Now I'm in a different office and people are very casual--jeans, sneakers, sometime tee shirts. Most are much younger than me, not far out of school. I still wear business casual if I go to the office.
@BlueMan2 Same, for conference calls, I dress as if I'm in the office. I opt for video on for nearly every meeting.
But most don't.
"Not everybody loves the camera, SAM." A coworker said.
"That's because, the camera doesn't love THEM." I shot back. 😂
Truthfully though...hiding from visibility is not good for the career.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN During COVID, all of our US offices were closed. All meetings were held over Teams, and the edict was reiterated. Video was mandatory, too.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I've got a colleague in Atlanta whose cat always horns in on the conversation. We have a recurring meeting every other Wednesday morning. I usually start with, "Good morning, Skipper (the cat)!"
