My coworkers and I are clones of an archetype represented well here on this site.
In the summit of engineers, everything--including people--is measured. We compare and contrast. We rank. We judge. I have embraced this over my career and life and have not been wrong.
1/2
More observations.
I was among the tallest of our summit. Our global force is mostly short (no offense!). HEIGHT matters. HAIR is *still* a big deal. In a world of gray baldness, mine stood out. LOOKS matter. STATUS as wealth/class in the form of cars, toys, etc. is measured.
Obviously not all of these to everyone but my point is that these things are in fact, beauty contests.
For men.
