I haven't been paying much attention to this platform in the last month. How is it going?

This past weekend, as the rabbi in residence for Shir Hadash in St. Louis, I mashed up the words of "Mi Chamocha," which also appears in this week's Torah portion, Beshalach, and the well-known spiritual "Wade in the Water" - to create a representation of the journey of liberation. After the service, a congregant approached me with questions about the significance of the mashup.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. From his April 1963 "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." rabbisandra.substack.com/p/tor

One of my goals for 2023 is to write more songs and finish them. Here is song #1 A Song for a New Year.

Today, let’s be grateful for all the love and support in our lives. Be thankful for our family, friends, and colleagues who have been there for us. Be grateful for the little things in life that bring us joy, like a warm cup of coffee in the morning, a beautiful sunset, and the laughter of those we hold dear. Gratitude has the power to transform our lives and bring us closer to those around us. So today, I choose to focus on all that I have to be grateful for, and I hope you will do the same.

Shavua Tov, Boker Tov! May this new week be filled with blessings and joy for you. May you find moments of peace and contentment throughout the week, and may your days be filled with purpose and meaning. May you be surrounded by love and support from those around you, and may you be a blessing to others as well. Make it a good day and a great week!

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and spending time with loved ones. This is a time of year when many people come together to celebrate and appreciate the things that are important to them. Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or another holiday, I hope that you have a joyful and meaningful celebration. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season!

Shavua tov my friends

May this new week be filled with hope, joy, and abundance. May your path be guided by wisdom and your heart be filled with love. May you find strength in times of challenge and comfort in times of need. May you be surrounded by those who lift you up and support you. May your days be filled with blessings and your nights with peaceful rest. May you be a blessing to others and may you be blessed in all that you do.

"Much of our experience of divine goodness, grace and love has come to us through those whose lives have touched our own." When I read this, I reflect on the gifts of love I have received from people who have left this earth.

In the Jewish tradition, one should pray three times a day and recite 100 Berachot (blessings) a day; that’s a lot of praying. rabbisandra.substack.com/p/wak

Good morning. We are getting closer to Friday. Have a great day!!

If certain politicians and regular folk won’t condemn racism and haven’t for centuries unless it’s the most egregious forms, many of these same folks won’t condemn antisemitism unless a certain name is referenced that begins with an H and then they tap dance around that why would anyone be surprised they won’t condemn a former president that wants to get rid of the constitution. Believe what people tell you they will do.

A genuine encounter with God is life-changing, and after his wrestling match with God Jacob names the place, פְּנִיאֵ֑ל Peni-el (the presence of God) and says, “I have seen the Divine פָּנִ֣ים אֶל־פָּנִ֔ים peniel el peniel face to face, yet my life was spared.”
