It’s frightening to think how many peoples’ livelihoods depend upon consumerism. Manufacturing, research, marketing, office support staff, transportation, sales, management, HR, etc. Consumerism requires copious amounts of energy and natural resources. What does this drive to own and consume more stuff do to the planet and how can humanity slow it down without throwing millions of people into poverty?
