Vet Tech - "OMG, did he just die on us?"
THS - "No, he's just overly dramatic."
They removed a pound of fluid (400 ml) from his abdomen. He feels much better, though his kidneys are showing the effects of the Lasix he's been on, and his liver is still being problematic.
Hopefully now that we've got the ascites out he'll be more amenable to eating and we can get him on a proper dietary regimen to help support his kidneys and liver.

The Human Scribe has been busy this week so we’re reaching back to 2018 to bring you a from Remy the Wise.

Matty J is on his way to the vet for his abdominocentesis (fluid removal). Assuming everything goes well I'll pick him up this afternoon as soon as I get off work.

The abdominal effusion is due to liver problems. He's being treated for the underlying issue, and taking Lasix for the ascites. But the fluid has slowly built to the point where he's not able to eat fully, he's having acid reflux, and he's in discomfort. The biggest danger is a drop in blood pressure, so he'll be monitored at the vet tomorrow and come home in the evening.

Matty J’s Midweek Pick-Me-Up comes with a request this week. Matty J has to go in tomorrow to have fluid pulled out of his abdomen. There is some risk involved, and while our vet will take every precaution, you all know how these things can go. Keep him in your thoughts, please?
