"Mom, that's a word a lot of us speak when we're just starting to learn how to talk. It's a word that holds a lot of meaning and not a lot of people really realize that being a mom is more than just being a person raising a child, It's about supporting them, guiding them, teaching them, and loving them unconditionally. It's a word that we all too often forget the full meaning of as we get older."/2

"Mom, I lost my mother in 2004 and I never really got to grieve the loss. But you stepped up and filled her place in a big way. I'm not very good with speaking my feelings, but to write it out, now that I excel at. I love you as I did my own mother. I wanted to thank you for literally everything you've done for us as a family. For guiding us, for supporting us, for loving us unconditionally."/3

"Thank you. It's such a simple phrase, but there's so much meaning and love behind these words. I mean it from the bottom of my heart, even if I am a bit of an autistic brat. Mel." 4/4

(Curiously enough, I found out she's been donating to lgbtq support organizations and charities to fight legislation. Go Mom!)

Oh and to explain the symbolism with the dog and the cat, the cat. Her name is Hera. She was 14 years old when she passed away in her sleep from old age. Mom took it really really hard and it took her a while to be able to actually open her heart again to cats. The one on the right the dog is Sheba, a Malamute mutt that she adopted that was wandering the roads about 11 years ago, she passed away a couple years ago and she was the first I was allowed to give last rites to before she passed.
