Transgender Remembrance Day vigil held on the Everlasting shard on Homecoming City of Heroes today. It was a last minute prepared vigil, but the community really came together to share and support one another in reflecting on those whom were gone too soon, and those taken from us through violence and hate crimes across the nation. #LGBTQ #CoSoGaming
Six. Hours. Full. Hours: Of sharing, of supporting each other, of mourning with each other, of remembering the trans friends and family we lost over the last few years, and uplifting those that are transitioning and beginning their journeys. It warmed my heart and broke my heart at the same time to see so many of us together, sharing in our pain, but lifting each other up to keep fighting, to keep moving forward together as a community. #LGBTQ #CoSoGaming
Admittedly, I am utterly and completely drained for the day. What last visages of energy I have left, is just to state this for the closure of my day:
If you have transgender family, or friends, please, check in with them, let them know that they are loved and supported. A lot of us tend to retreat and shell-up to avoid trauma and further harm during these difficult times, and it's hard to tell if we really are in need of emotional support or not. Just check in with them. Please. #LGBTQ
