Letter to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. (And yes, I know my real name is there, I don't mind. This is important and I feel that transfolk of my state and others can relate to my words.) The bills in question: https://translegislation.com/bills/2023/MI #LGBTQ #Politics #WeDeserveBetter
I had admittedly held off on writing this for some time, to see if more bills presented threat to the LGBTQ and minorities of Michigan, and after checking several legislative trackers, lo and behold, 6 more were introduced to the floor this years session. Madam Whitmer had replied in my first letter that she is a staunch supporter for the LGBTQ of our state and will actively keep watch for bills such as these to ensure they do not reach a law status in our state but I figured I might check in.
@PaganMother Is this a bad time to say I saw a couple minor typos?
It kind of feels more sincere with the typos, though, but that may just be me.
@AskTheDevil There may have been a few, I did a cursory check before I fired the letter off to her.
@PaganMother I think it's a great letter. You did great. Thank you.
@AskTheDevil Thank you. <3 Life here in Michigan is alright, but it will get better if she listens to her constituents on these matters. I have high hopes for Gretchen as a state leader.
Perhaps even Presidential someday!
@JulesofJoy @AskTheDevil I could see her seated in the Oval office, she would make a fine first woman president in US history I think!
@AskTheDevil @JulesofJoy Personally, having lived in a state that she's enacted big changes of acceptance and support for folks like me even going against an entire political party to do so - I do believe she's the sense of change that this nation really needs.
@JulesofJoy @AskTheDevil I'm really proud of her, she's stood strong even against the onslaught of bullshit that the Republican candidates tried to throw at her, and the smear that the Orange Russian Puppet had thrown her way over the years during his single term. That takes balls and a serious sense of strength in determination.
@PaganMother @JulesofJoy I agree.
@PaganMother @AskTheDevil
Yes for politicians to do the job for ALL the people... with a selfless approach to governing.
