So, curious. On the news this morning they discussed a poll. Many people say they won’t get a coronavirus vaccine, apparently preferring to risk death or lifelong damage to major organ systems to some small risk posed by a vaccine.
So I am curious what’s your feeling? Will you get a vaccine if one is developed?
@Myrth They now control statements of CDC and HHS and they have decimated the FDA and fast tracked other drugs. It will take a damn long time before I trust anything related to this administration.
This is why I am in the middle category — only if Fauci says safe. To me, vaccines have been a miracle of modern medicine, ending the horrors of childhood illnesses (one of my uncles died in childhood to a now preventable disease). They eliminated smallpox.
But Trump damages everything he touches. I trust Fauci. If he gets the vaccine and says it is safe, only then will I get one.
@Myrth only if Fauci says says and Russel Honore oversees distribution. A lot of PPE Jared's boys distributed was fake. How would we know it wasn't made in Ivanka's perfume factory.
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine Frankly, the chances of a vaccine being widely distributed in the USA prior to the inauguration of our next president are slim. Most predictions I have seen are that a vaccine would be ready by early to mid-2021. I really don’t expect Ivanka and Jared to be involved, unless this election is stolen by Herr Fuhrer, or unless he stages a successful coup.
@Myrth How fast can Biden hire everyone competent back??? Pshew
Agree! I am a big proponent of vaccines, but I am finding it hard to trust anything backed by this administration. I'll be talking to our family doctor on Monday. @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @Myrth

IKR?! What you lot have been saying.
I'm SUPER pro-vaccinations/flu shots, etc (I have lost count of how many vaccines I've had in my life, but...safe to say a LOT, and that's not even including temporary ones during my various sojourns overseas), though even *I* remain a bit skeptical of anything rushed, or in any way tainted by the touch of the current regime.
@ChippySuave @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @Myrth
I'll surely wind up getting it when I can, ideally once *proper* medical professionals who don't stand to profit have endorsed it.
High risk here too. Age and asthma. And my DH is higher risk, older and several health issues. @Kitty62862
@Myrth I'm uninsured, so vaccines are at full out of pocket cost.
That's the primary factor for me. I don't have new vaccine amounts of money to throw at new vaccines in short supply and priced by greedy companies.
@Myrth mind, i also don't have ventilator amounts of money either, and would like not to die.
Soooo it's all price dependent. If it had good reviews by reputable doctors and studies at 500, maybe I'd get it. I don't know.
If it was free I'd get it but not trust it until others had proved it worked. But I'd get it.
I do believe vaccines are good as a category, but ineffective vaccines aren't good vaccines.
🙃
@Myrth I will wait and not be the first wave of the vaccinated. Making sure the soulless pharma folks haven't sold us a bill of goods.(given us harmful product, instead of helpful)
@Myrth Normally I'd be first in the damn line but....

This is some kind of insider sell off, not a vote of confidence. The money being allocated by the government to develop a vaccine doesn't seem to be given out to companies that habe developed and brought a vaccine to development, shared with WHO that we left or distributed in any way other than the same as Jared gave his frat buddies PPE money. It is going to take a whole lot for me to trust anyone on this.
