How The Tiny-House Trend Has Rebranded Affordable Housing Into Design Chic.

However, most tiny-house residents are not particularly well-off. While the poorest people tend not to buy tiny houses, ...tiny living is popular among the widening group of working-class Americans who might have owned a traditional home a generation ago but have found themselves with bank statements or credit histories that have made that choice impracticable.

We didn’t go tiny, but we did go small. The Great Recession hit us hard. Our solution was to

1) move for better income opportunities

and

2) significantly downsize

Our home is about half the size of our previous home. But it is more affordable to heat (or cool), maintain, etc.

Small is beautiful.

Bonus? It will be a good place for us to live in retirement, which is just around the bend.
