Government Criminalizes Off Grid Living: Tiny Homes Banned In US At Increasing Rate
Zoning ordinances often make tiny house living impossible. Generally, to live in a tiny house you have to find a county with no zoning ordinances, as very few places with zoning allow them.
Rather than tiny, we went small. Our house is less than half the size of the median sized home in the USA today. We were able to buy a home on land for a lot less than many condos, by going small.
One can find some very affordable post-war homes. They are very small by today’s standards but are plenty big enough.
One thing I like about ours is that it is all one level and is mostly handicapped accessible as is. With very little $ it can be made entirely so. We don’t need that right now, but down the road we might, and I want this to be our last home.
Many tiny houses would be difficult for anyone who developed a mobility issue.
But regardless...
Small is beautiful. 💜
