NEW: A SpaceX launch Monday morning from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California deposited water in the mesosphere.

That moisture coalesced and accreted on meteor smoke, making noctilucent clouds over Texas.

❄️For many, the first of the season will fall Friday across the ❄️

Heavy rain will move through Thursday overnight, then the center of our storm will propagate BACK over land and pull in cold air

This means SNOW in NY, NJ, and PA. Tricky at the surface, but 6"+ in the mountains poss.

A HIGH RISK of flash flooding and excessive rainfall exists for portions of coastal Northern California.

Up to 12-16 inches of rain in higher terrain.

High risks only are issued about 4 percent of the time, but account for 40% of all flood fatalities and 83% of financial losses.

Absolutely incredible imagery off the Pacific Northwest, where an explosively-intensifying cyclone is strengthening at TWICE the rate needed for "bomobgensis."

Watch this "double bomb cyclone" evolve into a perfectly-swirled atmospheric maelstrom over the northeast Pacific.

This satellite image showed the start of the atmospheric river that is now buffeting Northern California.

A HIGH RISK of flash flooding and excessive rainfall is in effect tomorrow for parts of the Klamath National Forest and North Coastal Range. Some of the higher peaks could see 10 to 14 inches.

🪫 More than 620k customers don’t have power across Washington and Oregon this morning.

A powerful bomb cyclone continues to slam the Pacific Northwest bringing strong winds, heavy rain and snow.

An important detail: a customer isn’t necessarily a person. A customer could be a house, a business or an office building.

The true human impact is likely much, MUCH higher (numbers wise).

Northern Plains Wind

Strong winds will sweep down the Northern Plains, bringing the risk of fire weather for some and accompanying heavy snow for others. MyRadar meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has an update.

🌀11 days until the official end of the 2024 hurricane season but we love to see this!

Pacific Northwest Storm

A bomb cyclone is battering the mountains of the Pacific Northwest with wind, heavy snows and blizzard conditions. The coast of northern California also has a high risk of excessive rainfall and flash flooding. MyRadar meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has an update.

Four typhoons have hit the Philippines in ten days.

Three were 150 mph supertyphoons.

Man-yi made two landfalls. Three of the super typhoon landfalls occurred on the island of Luzon.

Absolutely wild pressure drops with Pacific Northwest cyclone.

Air pressure is set to drop by 6% or more within 24 hours. That's how much air the storm is lifting up and out of its center. The suction induces strong inward winds.

Strengthening 2X as fast as a "bomb cyclone."

Okay, today the MyRadar Repeating Hamster is getting back to the weather. I'm too busy running on my wheel to get into Holy SM Wars.

Let's all stay Weather-wise!

Hamster Note:

Your hamster sees lots of people who are not enamored of BlueSky.

Curiously in the past 4 years of posting on CoSo, where Twitter links were regularly included in MyRadar CoSo Toots, no one scolded us.

We guess that is why Xitter continues to be the primary SM site of the world *sigh*

Talk about a LONG night — Utqiagvik, Alaska won’t see the sun rise for 64 days.

Welcome to winter. “Polar night” has set in across the U.S.’s northernmost town.
