Milton’s freshwater flooding
Milton will drop a broad 4 to 8 inches of rain, with localized 12 inch totals. The National Weather Service has drawn a high risk of flash flooding and excessive rainfall. Even inland, flooding will be a serious concern. Meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has an update.
Tornado risk increasing
The risk of tornadoes is growing in central and southern portions of the Florida Peninsula and Keys. An isolated significant (EF2+) tornado is possible. The risk increases quickly through noon along the Gulf Coast, then spreads inland. Tap for update from Matthew Cappucci.
"Milton hits tonight
Hurricane Milton is on final approach to Florida. The National Hurricane Center warns it could be “one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for west-central Florida.” Life-threatening 10 to 15 foot storm surge is possible. Meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has update.

BREAKING
The eye of Hurricane #Milton is now visible from the Key West radar (KBYX).
Landfall looks like overnight and into early Thursday morning, around 2:00 A.M.
Our lead Broadcast Team Meteorology responded with.
"Those are just Thunderstorms"
Apparently, no one has named that structure anything.
The Hamster thinks we should give those types of structures a name of "Hamster Ball".
> "And as is usual with large powerful hurricanes, Milton is preceded by a Hamster Ball of Thunderstorms."
@janallmac
Honestly the hamster doesn't know what that leading structure is called, but it is normal, with really large strong hurricane structure approaching land.
The Hamster will go ask the meteorologists what that structure is called when they come online and get back to you.
The Hamster will have to ask the team for exact numbers, but from memory, it's not a yearly thing, but it does happen from time to time.
There was even this time when the Hamster saw a hurricane cross The Swamp land, circle around and cross The Swamp again!
Here in Orlando, where the hamster keeps their Habitrail, it's just a really wet windy day, Think Nor'easter but souther

#milton is a NEAR-PERFECT circle ⭕️
This symmetry demonstrates a perfectly-constructed storm, bringing with it extreme power.
It’s rare to see this in the Atlantic…let alone with crosshairs on Florida.
Debris stretches endlessly along the roads of Siesta Key, Florida. Just under two weeks ago, storm surge from Helene devastated the area, and with Milton approaching in just one day, these communities have no time to recover.
