NOTE From The Windows Dev Team:

This new build will almost certainly have bugs.

This release has been 6+ months in the making. It's almost a total rewrite from the ground up.

But let us know if you find any bugs! We are absolutely committed to making sure the new MyRadar Windows is at least as reliable as the previous build.

You can pass on any comments you have to the Hamster here on CoSo and they'll make sure we get that feedback

The MyRadar Windows Client has just had a major drop / update for users.

With this release, we have transitioned to the latest Windows App Framework, offering us new opportunities to bring some amazing features we have planned for the next 12 months.

If you already have MyRadar Windows installed, you can just check for updates in the Microsoft Store and you will get the new version.

Flooding rainstorm likely

There is an increasing risk of a tropical rainstorm in Florida. Parts of the Peninsula could see double-digit rain totals between Saturday night and Thursday of next week. Flooding possible. MyRadar meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has an update.

The chances of a named storm in the Gulf of Mexico are increasing next week.

We’re still expecting heavy rain and flooding in Florida to be the main concern, but there may eventually be some wind or surge risk too.

Aurora borealis possible

A trio of solar flares, each of which was followed by a magnetic shockwave — or “coronal mass ejection” — have erupted from the sun. That could give northern mid-latitudes multiple opportunities to see the aurora borealis this weekend. Matthew Cappucci has an update.

Northern lights coming?

Multiple solar flares recently flashed off the sun, including the largest of the ongoing 11-year solar cycle. Multiple magnetic shockwaves, called coronal mass ejections, could disturb Earth’s magnetic field and induce auroral displays. Matthew Cappucci has an update.

Tracking Helene: Friday update

Helene is a tropical storm now but is still bringing widespread impacts across the Southeast. MyRadar meteorologist Matthew Cappucci rode out the storm in Perry, Florida, and now has an update on what’s happening for the Carolinas, Georgia, and the Ohio Valley.

Hamster Note:

Our Windows dev team for MyRadar wants you to know that currently the Satellite Animation layer for MyRadar is not available in the Windows Desktop version.

We are hoping to ship that update / feature early next week for our Windows Ad-Free (subscription) version.

We also want to offer satellite animation in the FREE with ads version, but due to a current difficulty with our Ad Provider, we can't support that at the moment.

In the MyRadar Satellite Layer, you can see all the dirt and sand kicked up by Helene's passage

Some of the worst damage from Helene is the inland flooding. Flooding emergencies are happening from Atlanta into the Carolinas. More than 3 million customers are also without power.
